Backing Up DNS Zones

This page explains how to create a backup file for the DNS Records available on the server. 

Overview

You can back up all DNS Zones available on the server, for all the DNS Zones of a client or for a specific DNS Zone. The backup txt file has a .dnsm extension.

Backing up all DNS zones on the server

To create a local backup with complete information for all the DNS Zones available on the server, follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Click on the DNS Zones link in the navigation menu.

STEP 2: Press the Backup DNS Zones button in the Tools area. A file download dialog box will open.

STEP 3: Select the name of the file and the path on your local machine where you want to save the file.

The file contains the list of the DNS Records for all DNS Zones available on the server.

Backing up client DNS zones

To create a local backup with complete information for all the DNS Zones of a client, follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Click the Clients link in the navigation menu. The list of clients is available in the Clients area.

STEP 2: Select the client and then press the Backup DNS Zones button in the Tools area. A file download dialog box will open.

STEP 3: Select the name of the file and the path on your local machine where you want to save the file.

The file contains a list of the DNS Records for all the zones that belong to the chosen client.

Backing up a DNS zone

To create a local backup for a specific DNS Zone available on the server, follow the steps below:

STEP 1: Click the DNS Zones link in the navigation menu.

STEP 2: In the DNS Zones area, you will see a list with the DNS Zones available on the server. From that list, select the DNS Zone and then press the Backup DNS Zone button. A file download dialog box will open.

STEP 3: Select the name of the file and the path on your local machine where you want to save the file.

The file contains a list of the DNS Records for the chosen domain.
